I disagree with your views about the X-Games and I can see someone like Broskow or Chris Farmer or Chris Haffey embracing corporate sponsorship because of the paycheck that would allow them to live that ideal lifestyle that we see skateboarders living today. Making money off doing something you like aka your passsion. I’m sure Aaron Fienberg wasn’t pissed when he got his endorsement by LEVI’s when Inline was still in the X-Games…

I like your articles and the blading community can disagree with my thoughts all they want… but TV exposure will only help build and grow our sport meaning companies in blading will get more advertisement and marketing time set out to all the little grommet kids watching TV. How’d you get into INLINE? Probably by watching it on TV when you were little… at least, it definitely made it seem “more cool” in an image aspect. Yea, whatever dumb down the EGO… ofcourse, more sell-outs, posers, and etc would exist, but for the sake of cycles… I’d like to see that bs again… blading in the 90s was more fun maybe because of this factor… I’d much rather see more sell-out rollerbladers on TV then Rob D? “Do you understand whatIm sayin”-southpark

Yes Nate i think that Krans understands this but what he is saying is that rollerblading is better off being a culture that its participants can control if we are apart of the x-games then we will just be smothered with logos, brand names and fat CEO’s who want to use what we love to make them money.

I disagree about the xgames man. Of course a grass roots event is far better, but how many tens of thousands of dollars does that pay the competitors? How many kids in small towns see it and get inspired? We control our own image. If we handle it properly the money and exposure can only help our sport.
