I am the only rollerblader here, and I still skating since 5 years. It’s full of skateboarders, but I don’t give a shit.

Rollerblading has the ability to pick itself up by it’s bootstraps and make itself profitable. Unfortunately, there’s been a vicious cycle of repetition that keeps pulling itself further into the quicksand of teenager mentality. Paying $5 for a 5-6 minute section is a fuckin steal considering the amount of effort that it takes to put together a top-tier edit or video for that matter. Buttfucking butt pirates will never understand this because the assumption is “pros get to travel, get free shit, meet cool people; all on someone else’s dime.” The reality is most of the time those bills are fronted on the hopes of return on the back end from the content. If rollerblading stopped projecting such a ignorant fuckin attitude, maybe the ignorant fucks wouldn’t feel so violated and take matters into their own hands. Its unfortunate that some people would steal from people who work very hard to entertain others. I personally have purchased plenty of VOD, jeans, wheels, etc from AJ and his companies but that doesn’t mean I like him or his image. I agree with the confrontational/aggressive activism AJ puts into his work but if you are constantly spitting in people’s faces with arrogance, some people might just spit back.

I’ve witnessed change in the industry just in the last 2 months but equating facebook to the “only viable news source” is worse than watching fox news all day.
I guess you have to give on some things in order to get but the majority of rollerbladers are either ignorant to this fact or have given so much to the industry and seen it pissed away on arrogance that they themselves become passive. It’s like when cancer finally sets in, fuck it. let that mother fucker die because maybe, just maybe, something good can come of it.
Too bad perception is 9/10 of the law while the true message lays buried in unreplied emails and instagram messages.

Thank you for writing this. You have effectively illustrated everything wrong with the aggressive rollerblading industry. Basically “we’re too cool to take that redbull money!”

Ya so fucking cool.

The fuck outside money attitude only keeps the same people at the top of the sport. They promote this thinking to keep their elite status.

In reality, a pro’s job is to promote a product. In farmer’s case, skates and frames. We generally don’t pay for advertising, actually when we pay for entertainment there usually isn’t any advertising. Why would we pay for a section? It’s basically an ad. I’s not our fault that the skater couldn’t negotiate a deal where they get enough money to live, it’s their fault. Part of the problem is the current big companies in rollerblading exploit pros for their own profit. The sad part is these pros feel special enough to allow the anal rape to continue to happen. They are so cool, so elite that they can stand over us. The sad part is they can’t even to afford to buy the skates on their feet. But yet, we are expected to buy those skates AND give a tip in exchange for the privilege to see advertising. That’s fucking insane.

The other poster (jogurt) makes a very strong point. Why can’t pros teach kids? Or do shows? Or set up events? Some do. They are the true professionals, the rest are amateur and deserve the amateur pay that they are receiving.

I watched this VOD with my friends who bought it. They loved it, I didnt. If some people choose to pay for it, ok.
But skating will never change if the balders dont push themselves to promote what we do outside. I teach blading at schools in Poland and have over 100 students. Why cant pros do the same ???

Nothing is ever free, these people sure doesnt hesitate to pay for a lot of fucking things every day, but when you ask them for 5 fucking bucks thats too much?
